UPSEAA has been instrumental in reaching out to the alumni for donations for facilities improvements. To date, all 9 classrooms in the Main Building have been renovated, the newest one inaugurated in Sept. 2015. The lobby and the atrium were given facelifts.
Since 2006, five conference/seminar rooms have been donated by the alumni. Last Sept. 6, 2016, the Center for Financial and Monetary Economics, and the Student Activity Center were inaugurated. CFME is envisioned to be an internationally recognized center for research and education in financial economics, while the SAC is a place for students to gather, interact and exchange ideas, especially regarding their research. This was made possible by the corporate donation from the Union Bank of the Philippines, through the efforts of UPSE alumnus and former UBP President, Victor B. Valdepeñas.
Scholarships for the undergraduates are funded by the alumni through UPSEAA, Batch ’87 and the Fund Managers Association of the Philippines (FMAP), the latter facilitated by the alumni from the banking and financing community. A total of 50 scholars have been sponsored since 2010, 37 of whom have earned their degrees with honors. There are 10 scholars enrolled beginning SY 2017-18. Additionally, since 2011, FMAP has supported research via the FMAP Awards for Best Undergraduate Paper in Monetary and Financial Economics which granted 6 best papers over the years. The alumni donated 2 Professional Chairs in the areas of Energy and Technology.
UPSEAA helped facilitate partnerships with private corporates like Ayala Corp., giving rise to the Ayala Corp-UPSE Economic Forums, which began in 2008, held quarterly until the end of 2016.
We'd love to hear from you and we'll be happy to answer any questions you have.
