UPSEAA honored two alumni who have provided unparalleled service to the government. The Distinguished Service Awards were given to Gil Beltran, Department of Finance Undersecretary, from AB Economics Batch ’77, and Rolando Tungpalan, Neda Undersecretary, from AB Economics Batch ’78.

It was a prestigious event, graced by the country’s economic leaders and all UP School of Economics alumni: guest speaker Bangko Sentral Governor Nesting Espenilla, Jr., Trade Secretary Mon Lopez, Budget Secretary Ben Diokno, Neda Secretary Ernie Pernia and TV/News personality and former Neda Secretary, Winnie Monsod. It was also an opportunity to induct the 2018 UPSEAA Board of Trustees with Nesting as the inducting officer; and the occasion to recognize the contributions to the alumni association of the past president, Ronee Juanengo.

The event was spearheaded by the UPSEAA Board of Trustees, headed by President Jeffrey Ng who formally launched the Distinguished Service Awards as UPSEAA’s new program to recognize the alumni for their achievements in rendering distinguished service in their respective fields. The event was held at Manila Golf and Country Club, attended by several UPSE batches in a dinner affair marked with pride and nostalgia.
