Maria Irma Baylon (now Tan) graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Economics (Cum Laude) in 1981.  She earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from UP Diliman in 1985.  

Irma worked for 12 years in SGV and Company’s Management Services Division until the time it developed its Strategic Services Practice with  Arthur Andersen and later on Andersen Consulting.. Irma specialized in market and feasibility studies, business planning and advocacy programs..Key clients included the US Department of Commerce, General Electric, San Miguel Corporation, Japan Tobacco, Inc., the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Trade and Industry and the USAID for advocacy work on electronic Data Interchange (precursor to E-Commerce), Philippine Trade Liberalization, Competitive Enhancement of the Philippine Packaging Industry, among others,  and the Central Bank for the expansion of banking services in the rural areas.  She later carved out a career spanning twenty years  in the Philippine property sector as VP for  Corporate Planning and Property Management Services for Filinvest Land, and VP for Corporate Planning and Chief Risk Officer for Eton Properties Phils, Inc. Her areas of focus included strategic planning and management,  policy and procedures development and compliance monitoring,  risk assessments, and implementation of enterprise resource planning systems.  

Irma was elected Trustee of UPSEAA in 2024 and since then has been in charge of the Elections Committee working hand in hand with the Administration of UPSE.  The Elections Committee is tasked to continuously streamline and improve the nomination and voting procedures, rationalize timelines,  as well as  develop innovative communication programs.  An added function  in 2025 is to spearhead the Membership Board Committee with oversight function over projects such as the Alumni Database, Website, and Alumni Card.   The Membership Board Committee has overarching goals to boost and activate membership,  and engage the alumni in the Association’s and UPSE’s activities and programs for a delightful and meaningful experience post-graduation.
